Gothic Wedding Gowns

If you want a special wedding and you have the image of a unique gown (oh, and you also need some courage to make this happen), you can decide on a gothic wedding gown.
Inspired from literature and art, gothic style frames a mysterious fashion, composite from luxurious materials: satin, silk, leather and velvet. A gothic wedding gown is a darkened one, sometimes even with a morbid, but erotic style. It includes long dresses, corsets, with an Elizabethan or Victorian tailoring, emphatically completed with a very light-skin, black eyeliner and nail polish in very dark colors.
Gothic accents had a massive impact in the 2007 spring-summer fashion, especially in haute couture field. Clothing designers such as Givenchy, Maurizio Galante, Christian Dior or Jean Paul Gaultier invoked gothic clothing because of their message reflected by color and tailoring. Even when make-up and hairstyle comes into discussion, many times the style of the fashion collections are presented by models that have a romantic, but morbid image: black hair, sharp eyes shaded with the same color, white skin and red lips.
The essence of a clothing style, complied with certain social and cultural opinions, is the invention of a self-identity through clothes, which clearly proves the appurtenance to a certain subculture. Gothic wedding gowns are interfering with any widespread fashion conventions and they are trying to avoid congeniality.
Gothic-inspired fashion can be recognized through its strong and dark colors: black, dark red, dark blue, which are meant to symbolize strength, individuality, sexuality. Gothic wedding gowns rely on extreme stylistic elements, from their fluid material which surrounds the body with tenderness (silk, satin with a sweet, romantic style) to their leather or nylon pieces, with strong metallic details. The fluid material is often used to complete the solid one, the leather corset is overlaid to a veiled silk top, for a strong contrast.
Thanks to the simplicity of the ideas that fashion absorbed in building a gothic wedding gown, any variation on romantic, morbid, strong, metallic, dark or black with other bright colors is allowed. Stereotypes of a gothic style can increase the creativity and innovation in design. By associating it with punk style, new meanings and visions to the idea of gothic are brought: asymmetric hairstyle in a dark hair or in very strong hues, pierces or tattoos on certain parts of the body (visible or not). Gothic style, like many other styles which are determined by mass culture, prefers outfits designed by their own means: cut pieces and then rebuilt by metallic elements (safety pins, metal straps, etc.), overlapping pieces, etc.

Main elements of the gothic style can be used to conceive an outfit as an innovation, to reflect a spirit of elegance and refinement with a black dress with guipure or metal details. You can express an innocent style through minimalism, material fluidity and bright color; you can also express a “vampire” style by highlighting lines and curves in satin or leather, or a romantic style while using velvet and golden accessories.
The simplicity of the gothic stylistic elements allows you to play with the materials, with colors and details, so you can create a brand new, special look for your gothic wedding gown!
